Trekking through the Terskei Ala Too Mountain Range is an experience full of breathtaking landscapes and the thrill of exploring remote places.  On this tour you’ll sleep under the starlit sky of Kyrgyzstan, relax next to a campfire at night, and uncover amazing beauty hidden away in secluded corners of the country.  It’s a one-of-a-kind opportunity to discover the wonders of our mountainous land!

You’ll see both the Oguz Bashi (5,165 m) and Karakol (5,216 m) Peaks and the famous moraine-glacial lake, Ala Kol (3,532 m). We’ll trek over two mountain passes – Telety (3,800 m) and Ala Kol (3,800 m), and for the cherry on top, take a dip in natural hot springs with curative mineral water in the Altyn Arashan Valley!    

       

Program:

Day   Itinerary:
1 Bishkek Bishkek

Arrival in Bishkek. Meeting at the airport “Manas”, transfer to the hotel 3*. Rest. Sightseeing tour: visit Ala-Too square, Osh market Opera and Ballet Theatre, Fine Art Museum, World National Library and etc. Lunch and dinner in local restaurant. Accommodation in the hotel 3*.

2   Bishkek – Cholpon-Ata — Karakol

Breakfast. Early transfer to Karakol via Cholpon-Ata, along northern side of Issyk-Kul lake (390 km 5-6 hrs). On the way visit Cultural Complex “Ruh Ordo”, Petroglyphs museum on open air in Cholpon-Ata. After lunch continue the way by entering to Grigorivskoye Gorge and exiting from Semenovskoye gorge (50 km, 1 hour) for excursion. Upon arrival to Karakol visit Prejevalskiy Museum.  Dinner in local restaurant in Karakol.  Accommodation in the Home Stay. Meals: breakfast, dinner

3 Trekking Karakol – Chon-Kyzyl Suu

Breakfast. Visit Dungan mosque (built in 1910 years), Cathedral of the Holy Trinity (XVIIII cen.) in Karakol and drive to Chon Kyzyl-Suu Gorge, 50 km, the start point of trekking. Start hiking along Chon Kyzyl Suu Gorge to the footstep of Archa Tor Pass. Overnight in tent camp.  Altitude of the trekking way is 1800 – 3000 meters above sea level. Trekking time: 5 hrs. Meals: full board.

4 Trekking Archa-Tor Pass

Hiking up to Archa-Tor pass (3700 m) and descend to Djety-Oguz Gorge. On the way excursion to the water fall (20 meters). Overnight in sheperd’s Yurt Inn or tent camping at 2800 m.   Trekking time: 5-6 hrs. Meals: full board.

5 Trekking Dgety-Oguz Gorge

Descent along Dgety-Oguz Gorge and hike up to the foothill of Telety Pass (3850 m). Rest. Overnight in tent camp at 2900 m. Trekking time: 5 hrs. Meals: full board.

6 Trekking Karakol Gorge

Trek over the Telety Pass (3850m) to National Park in Karakol Gorge. From the pass you can see snow-capped mountains and peaks of Teskey Ala-Too range. Overnight in tent camp at 2400 — 2500 m. Trekking time: 5-6 hrs. Meals: full board.

7 Trekking Karakol Gorge.

Radial trekking. Rest day. Overnight in tent camp at 2500m. Meals: full board.

8 Trekking Ala-Kol Lake

Descend from Karakol Gorge to small bridge, cross the river and hiking up towards Ala-Kol Lake. The ascent is enough steep but not long. Trek up to the Ala-Kul valley through fir tree forest. The next tent camp you can set up in the forest, near small shelter “sirota”. Overnight in tent camp at 3200m. Meals: full board.

9 Trekking Ala-Kol Lake – Altyn-Arashan

After breakfast continue trekking up to Ala-Kol Pass. Lunch at Ala-Kul lake.  It sits at the altitude of 3532 meters above sea level. Being 2,3 km long and 700 meters across, it takes waters from a melting glacier and turns to a nice waterfall on the other end. Cross over the Ala-Kul pass (3860 m) and then descend to Altyn-Arashan Gorge through Keldike gorge. Dinner and overnight in tents in Altyn-Arashan Gorge “Golden Spring” (3200 m). Swim in the Hot spring. Overnight in tent. Meals: full board.

10 Altyn-Arashan — Karakol Altyn-Arashan – Karakol

Breakfast. Walking in Altyn-Arashan Gorge. After lunch transfer to Karakol. Rest. Accommodation in the Home Stay.

11 Karakol — Bishkek Karakol – Bishkek

 

Breakfast. Transfer to Bishkek (395 km, 6-7 hrs). Rest. Accommodation in the hotel 3*. 

 

12 Transfer to airport “Manas”. Departure.

— Tourist must have medical insurance policy with coverage of EUR 30 000.

— Road to Altyn-Arashan Gorge is off road and hard therefore it is necessary to use 4WD vehicle

— Participants of the mentioned program have to be aware of and accept possible risks of personal injury. The trekkers should be responsible for their own actions and involvement.

— Offered program can be changed and individualized according to the interests of the trekkers

Altitude: The altitude on this program rarely causes anyone any problems and the trekking goes in quit manner, without big altitude difference. We advice to walk in one manner and drink more fluid.
